We are an independent veterinary practice, operating out of four branches in Newtown, Llanidloes, Crossgates and Knighton. Established for over 125 years, we are proud to still be owned and managed internally by members of the team.
To ensure the best quality of service, we have in excess of 20 veterinary surgeons, 10 veterinary nurses, 4 Approved TB Testers (ATTs) and 20 support staff. Some of our team members have completed additional qualifications in specialist areas of veterinary care.
As a mixed practice, we treat all species of animal. Some of our team members have specialist interests and have achieved extra qualifications in specific areas of veterinary care.
24/7 emergency and out-of-hours veterinary care in Powys
One of the few practices in the region to provide a dedicated in-house out-of-hours emergency service.
At least three vets are on call at any time, ensuring rapid response and continuous cover. In an emergency, calls are answered directly by a member of the team who is familiar with your animals and the local area, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This level of cover ensures consistent, reliable support whenever urgent care is needed.

Across our four branches, we have modern diagnostic and treatment facilities to support advanced veterinary care, and we have strong links with trusted referral centres for any specialist procedures not offered on-site.

Tom was my beloved companion for many years. When he completely lost one of his claws, the team at Hafren Vets treated him with such care and professionalism, removing part of his toe so it could heal properly. Thanks to their expertise, Tom made a great recovery and was soon back to his usual self. The staff were always so fond of Tom, who was well known as one of the biggest cats to visit the practice!
